“Botany Blueprint” is a collection of botanic photography, and a study of plant design, specifically seeds & seed pods. Individually, each photograph is a portrait of a unique botanic specimen; as a series, the photographs become an inquiry into the evolution and diversity of plant design. // The photographs are published in my column at PRINT magazine, where I write about a seed pod’s form & function, as well as a bit about the plant’s ecology and ethnobotany. The project will be compiled as a forthcoming book. Currently, the series is available for exhibition. I am indebted to all botanic gardens and arboretums that have partnered with the project, including Harvard’s Arnold Arboretum, Genna Walska’s Lotusland, and the Hawaiian Tropical Botanic Garden.
About the prints:
All photographs are printed in limited edition, processed with archival pigment inks and a lustre finish. Framed prints include the artist’s signature, the edition number, and the plant’s common and Latin names, inscribed on the mat. All are custom framed with museum-quality matte black Nielsen Bainbridge metal frames, 4-ply acid-free archival mat board, and UV protected plexiglass. Frame dimensions: 8″x10″ print, 12″x14″ frame; 11″x14″ print, 17″x20″ frame; 16″x20″ print, 24″x28″ frame. Unframed prints include a certificate with the edition number, the artist’s signature, and the plant’s common and Latin names. Each includes a border of 0.5″ to allow for framing.
