Botany Blueprint

A column on the form and function of seed pods.

My bi-monthly column is published at Print magazine (articles are here). With my photographs as companion illustrations, I write about the design of seed pod specimens that I have collected. I am particularly interested in dehiscent fruits, which I examine as specimens. Intended to advance botanic literacy and make plants relevant to a broad audience, the project will cover 100 specimens in total, and be compiled as a forthcoming book. Prints of the photographs are available for purchase and exhibition. Please visit my online galleries for ordering information. Additional seed pod photographs are here.
